Will my item come flat packed?

Most of our products come flat packed and ready for easy self-assembly. We supply all the fixings you will need and easy to follow instructions. If you have a basic level of DIY skills and some common tools you should have no problems.

What should I do to prepare my garden?

Whether you are assembling the product yourself, have a tradesman booked or have taken out our installation service – it is important that you get your garden ready before you start any building work.

1. Before you begin, please make sure that you check the product and make sure the parts and fixings are all present and correct before you start assembling.

2. Double check the position of where your new shed will be located and that you have allocated enough ground space. For example, if your shed is 10 x 12 we strongly advise over allocating by et least 12 inches either side.

3. Make sure that the area is cleared around where the product is to be installed, including trimming back overhanging branches.

It is very important that any base preparation work is carried out in advance of your product being assembled. A correctly prepared base is essential to ensure the successful assembly of your product and its longevity

What is pressure treated timber?

Pressure Treated items which are designed to be in contact with the ground are impregnated with preservative, an effective method used to protect wood against fungal decay and insect attack. The treatment is based on the well-established effectiveness of copper combined with a co-biocide.

Stains, paint and water repellent may be applied after purchase providing you follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

What tools would you recommend for the assembly of products?

For most timber products we would advice that you have a hammer, screwdriver, drill, Stanley knife, spirit level and a tape measure to hand.

How many people will it take to assemble a shed?

This really depends on individual products, please check each listing.

Will my shed need any aftercare?

We recommend some annual aftercare which will help protect the wood and make it more durable to ensure it lasts longer. Preservatives, also known as wood treatment, can protect all types of timber from discolouration and decay, as well as giving a constant all-year-round colour. An annual wood preservative paint will protect your new purchase or rejuvenate an existing one.

In addition to the annual application of a preservative, we also recommend the annual application of a wax or oil based weatherproofing finish. This will stabilise the movement of your product caused by atmospheric moisture levels, and protect it from the elements.

Keeping your timber building ventilated is important as moisture can become trapped between layers of non-breathable materials and build-up, leading to floors becoming rotten.
